What is an Ostomy?

Key Ostomy Information and Terms

Erectile disfunction

The physician squeezes the glans (head) of the penis, which immediately causes the anus to contract if nerve function is normal. To determine this, a man can simply wet and affix a small stamp on his flaccid penis before going to bed. Modern drug therapy for ED made a significant advance in 1983, when British physiologist Giles Brindley dropped his trousers and demonstrated to a shocked Urodynamics Society audience his papaverine-induced erection.[30] The drug Brindley injected into his penis was a non-specific vasodilator, an alpha-blocking agent, and the mechanism of action was clearly corporal smooth muscle relaxation. Furthermore, studies have shown that lack of testosterone leads to a range of other sexual performance problems, including premature ejaculation and low sex drive. Although they are often dismissed as ineffective solutions to impotence, more and more clinical research studies have found that herbs can help impotent men.

DRESSING MATERIALS FOR MASS USE Types of Ostomies and Continent Procedures

The terms ostomy and stoma are general descriptive terms that are often used interchangeably though they have different meanings. An ostomy refers to the surgically created opening in the body for the discharge of body wastes. A stoma is the actual end of the ureter or small or large bowel that can be seen protruding through the abdominal wall. The most common specific types of ostomies are described below.

MediTex – Medical staplers

manufacturer: MediTex (China)

Surgical staples are specialized staples used in surgery in place of sutures to close skin wounds, connect or remove parts of the bowels or lungs. A more recent development, from the 1990s, uses clips instead of staples for some applications; this does not require the staple to penetrate.

Erectile Disfunction

A vacuum erection device helps draw blood into the penis by applying negative pressure. The ring remains on the penis until intercourse is finished. Impotence was once solely defined as the inability to achieve an erection. Prescribed drugs used to treat high blood pressure, ulcers, depression, and prostate cancer, as well as medications to prevent baldness or aid in dieting, can have side effects that include impotence. Additionally, adequate levels of testosterone (produced by the testes) and an intact pituitary gland are required for the development of a healthy erectile system. It's important to realize that impotence may be a symptom of a more serious health problem, so if you're impotent, seek professional medical help immediately. Boredom, marital problems or negative feelings toward your partner may contribute to an impotence problem.

Oasy - A contemporary solution

ANTIDECUBITAL PADS & POSITIONERS

Although often prevented and treatable if detected early, pressure ulcers can be very difficult to prevent in critically ill people, frail elders, wheelchair users (especially where spinal injury is involved) and terminally ill individuals. Primary prevention is to redistribute pressure by regularly turning the person. The benefit of turning to avoid further sores is well documented since at least the 19th century. In addition to turning and re-positioning the person in the bed or wheelchair, eating a balanced diet with adequate protein and keeping the skin free from exposure to urine and stool is very important.

Oasy – Specialized products

"OASY" FOR KIDS

Intact skin with non-blanchable redness of a localized area usually over a bony prominence. Darkly pigmented skin may not have visible blanching; its color may differ from the surrounding area. The area differs in characteristics such as thickness and temperature as compared to adjacent tissue. Stage I may be difficult to detect in individuals with dark skin tones. May indicate "at risk" persons (a heralding sign of risk).

TechTronic – Other Products
